Cantonese Assistant Pastor

The Cantonese Assistant Pastor at Sunset Church plays a pivotal role in nurturing and guiding our Cantonese congregation. Working collaboratively with the Lead Pastor, the Cantonese Assistant Pastor will contribute to the spiritual growth and development of our members through preaching, counseling, teaching, and various pastoral duties.

General Responsibilities
• Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to congregation members.
• Ministry Development: Assist in planning and implementing various ministries, with a focus on small groups and fellowships.
• Leadership Development: Mentor and develop lay leaders within the congregation.
• Preaching and Teaching: Deliver sermons, bible studies, and other instructional sessions.
• Sacraments: Officiate at sacraments such as baptisms, communions, weddings, and funerals.

Qualifications:
• Education and Experience:
o Master's degree from an accredited seminary.
o Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Chinese congregation ministries, preferably in North America.
• Skills and Abilities:
o Strong fluency in Cantonese and English, both written and spoken.
o Proven ability to lead and develop others.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Strong organizational and time management skills.
o Deep understanding of evangelical theology.
o A genuine passion for serving and ministering to the Cantonese community.

• Participation in staff prayer and devotional meetings
• Commitment to serving Sunset Church and supporting the mission of Christ through the local church.

• Ability to effectively deal with conflict in a healthy, biblical manner.
• Ability to disclose sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality and trust regarding church and member information.
