College Station Chinese Bible Church (CSCBC) is strategically located next to the main campus of Texas A&M University, one of the largest universities in the US with a student population of more than 71,000, among them 11% are Asians. CSCBC is affiliated with Grace Bible Church (GBC) in College Station, TX, a multi-campus nondenominational American church with members of a few thousand. The history of CSCBC can be traced back to 1976. CSCBC has a diverse congregation with 70% of its current members from mainland China, 25% from other regions including Taiwan, Hong kong, Malaysia, Indonesia etc, and 5% as English-speaking members. CSCBC is simultaneously seeking a full-time Mandarin Chinese pastor for our Mandarin-speaking adult congregation to build up a spiritually strong family, and a full-time English pastor to elevate our English ministry to raise up the next generation of believers, including children/youth, ABC (American-Born Chinese) college students, ABC young professionals, and to serve English-speaking members. ● Preaching/Teaching: Plan and lead English Sunday service and be the main regular preacher for English worship; Design materials/activities for next-generation’s weekly Sunday schools and Friday fellowships and teach as needed.
● Leading: Organize and coordinate next-generation weekly Sunday schools and Friday fellowships; Recruit, equip, and mentor English ministry leaders; Coordinate parents and other volunteers for special events targeting the next generation.
● Training/Discipleship: Provide discipleship training and spiritual guidance for the next generation by working with their families; Lead and encourage the next generation to serve.
● Caring: Provide pastoral care to the next generation at the church; Establish relationships with the next generation and their families.
● Missions and Evangelism: Create and implement a strategic plan for an evangelistic outreach to the next generation in the local community; Personally involved in evangelizing the lost; Model and train the next generation in evangelism.
● Administration: Report to the Board of Elders of CSCBC; Work closely with other church leaders; Engage with administrative needs; Attend church meetings.
● Other duties, as needed and assigned by the Board of Elders of CSCBC.
● Doctrine: Meets Elder character qualifications (1 Tim. 3; Titus 1) including healthy marriage and family, as applicable; Clear Calling and passion for the next-generation ministry; Committed to the Constitution, Doctrinal Statement, Mission, Values, and Vision of CSCBC; Theological perspective that is grace-oriented.
● Education: Have earned or be in the process of earning a seminary degree.
● Experience: Experience serving in a cross-cultural environment required; Some experience in the next-generation Chinese ministry in North America preferred; Sensitive to Chinese and Western cultures and values.
● Spiritual Gifts: Preaching, teaching, caring, and leadership.
● Abilities/Skills: Be able to connect with next generation with Chinese heritage and understand their unique challenges and opportunities; Fluency in English required and knowledge of Mandarin language a plus; Good communicator in a wide variety of settings, including teaching of theology; Effective interpersonal, pastoral, and relational skills.
● Ministry Style: Demonstrated ability to submit to and implement policies decided by the Board of Elders of CSCBC.
