He initially worked in IT management. In 2014, he sensed God’s call to cross-cultural missions and left his IT career to pursue theological training at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary. In 2016, he and his wife began serving with a medical mission team providing assistance to refugees in Northern Iraq. After graduating from seminary, they returned to Northern Iraq, using university teaching as a platform for long-term ministry among students and refugees.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they temporarily returned to Los Angeles while continuing their ministry in Northern Iraq online and mentoring Chinese missionaries serving in the region. In 2022, Minister Chen wrote Muslim Ministry Manual to provide practical guidance for missionaries called to Muslim ministry.
In January 2024, Minister Chen joined LOGOS Evangelical Seminary as Director of Advancement, overseeing fundraising, church and ministry partnerships, donor relations, and student recruitment. He considers this role not simply a position, but a new mission entrusted to him by God.
