SEVIS I-901 Fee Guide
SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, the U.S. government system used to maintain records for international students and exchange visitors studying in the United States. SEVIS is administered by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The SEVIS I-901 Fee is a fee charged by DHS to support the administration and maintenance of SEVIS. It is separate from the visa application fee and is not a fee charged by LOGOS Evangelical Seminary.
F-1 students must pay the I-901 fee as required before applying for an F-1 visa, entering the United States, or changing to F-1 status.
The current SEVIS I-901 Fee for F-1 students is $350 USD.
Fee amounts may change according to U.S. government regulations. Please refer to FMJfee.com for the current fee.
The following students generally need to pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee:
Prospective Students
- Students applying for an F-1 visa for the first time
- Students from visa-exempt countries or regions who will enter the United States in F-1 status, such as Canadian citizens
- Students in the United States applying to change from another status to F-1 status
Current Students
- Students whose F-1 status has been terminated for more than five months and who need to apply for reinstatement
- Students who have been outside the United States or absent from their program for more than five months and need to obtain a new visa and re-enter in F-1 status
The following situations generally do not require payment of the SEVIS I-901 Fee:
Current Students
- Extending the program end date
- Transferring to another school
- Changing academic programs
- Renewing or extending an F-1 visa
F-2 Dependents
- F-2 spouses and children are not required to pay a separate SEVIS I-901 Fee.

Complete the payment at the appropriate time based on your situation:
- F-1 visa applicants: Pay before your visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
- Visa-exempt travelers, such as Canadian citizens: Pay before entering the United States.
- Change of status to F-1 within the United States: Pay before submitting your change-of-status application.
How Do I Pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee?

- Complete Form I-901 online.
- Ensure your name matches the name on your I-20.
- Pay using a credit card, debit card, or other accepted payment method.
- Download or print the I-901 Fee Payment Confirmation for your records.

Do I Need to Pay Again if My F-1 Visa Is Denied?
The SEVIS I-901 Fee is generally valid for 12 months from the date of payment. If your F-1 visa application is denied, you generally do not need to repay the fee if you reapply within 12 months using the same SEVIS ID.

- The SEVIS I-901 Fee is generally nonrefundable.
- You may need to repay the fee if your SEVIS ID changes or the payment is no longer valid.
- Keep your I-901 Fee Payment Confirmation for your visa interview, U.S. entry, or change-of-status process.
SEVIS Reporting Requirements
- U.S. federal regulations require schools to maintain and update F-1 student records in SEVIS. The International Student Office at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary is responsible for SEVIS reporting and updates.
- Keep your email, phone number, and address up to date in Populi so the International Student Office can contact you promptly if your SEVIS record is affected.

- The SEVIS I-901 Fee is charged by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), not by LOGOS Evangelical Seminary. Keep your payment confirmation for your records.
- You may be required to present your I-901 Fee Payment Confirmation when applying for an F-1 visa or entering the United States. Errors in your name, SEVIS ID, or I-20 information may affect your visa application or entry process.
