Designed for experienced preachers with theological training, this program deepens preaching ministry in message development, communication methods, and integration with church ministry.
Designed for professional preachers who have received theological training, this program guides participants toward deeper growth from the inside out. Building on the preaching foundations learned in seminary, it strengthens depth, broadens methods of communication, and connects preaching with the wider ministry of the church.
In addition to classroom learning, the program includes peer learning and practical preaching assessment so that preachers can continue growing in spiritual formation, content, delivery, and pastoral application.

- Professional preachers with prior theological training; current ministers and Logos alumni are welcome.

- Certificate program offered in three terms per year, with each term lasting approximately two months.

- 2 prerequisite courses + 3 core courses + 1 elective.

- Most courses are 2 credits; CP103 and CP104 are 3 credits each.
- Delivery
- All courses are conducted online via MS Teams.
- Tuition
- Core/elective courses: $80 each; CP103 and CP104: $120 each.
- Class Time
- Tuesdays or Thursdays, 5:30–7:30 PM Pacific Time. CP103 is offered on Tuesdays only; other courses generally allow students to choose either the Tuesday or Thursday section.
- Practicum
- Participate in a five-person peer group for one year, meeting monthly for mutual support in spiritual life and preaching. At least 10 sermons will receive assessment and feedback from peers and coaches.
- Admission requirement: M.Div., M.A., or higher degree required.
- CP103 and CP104 are each 3-credit, 12-week courses.
- Students who have completed two semesters of preaching courses in seminary may be exempt from CP103 and CP104.

Designed for lay leaders who have not received formal theological training but are already involved in preaching ministry, or who have been recommended and mentored by their pastors, this program establishes a solid foundation in preaching principles and practice.

Designed for lay leaders who have not received formal theological training but are already involved in preaching ministry, or who have been recommended and mentored by their pastors, this program establishes a solid foundation in preaching principles and practice.
Designed for lay leaders who have not received theological training but currently serve in preaching roles, as well as future preachers recommended and cultivated by their church pastors. The program builds a strong foundation in preaching principles and methods.
In addition to coursework, peer groups and sermon feedback help students put classroom learning into practice in the local church and in ministry.

Rev. Ekron Chen
Rev. Ekron Chen
Rev. Ekron Chen earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston. After sensing God’s call to ministry, he pursued theological training at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a master’s degree in theology, and later completed a Ph.D. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously served as pastor of a Chinese church in Carrollton, Texas. His primary research interests include theological methodology, postmodernism and the Christian faith, theology and philosophy, ethics, and the relationship between reason and faith. His main teaching areas include systematic theology, ethics, homiletics, theological methodology, and church history.
Rev. Tzu-Lun Tsai
Rev. Tzu-Lun Tsai
Rev. Tzu-Lun Tsai earned a Ph.D. in Homiletics from Drew University in 2008. From 2008 to 2025, he served as Associate Professor of Homiletics at Taiwan Theological Seminary / Taiwan Graduate School of Theology, and as president from 2019 to 2025. With 17 years of experience in homiletics education, he has devoted himself to strengthening preaching education in seminaries across Taiwan and Southeast Asia and to renewing the pulpit ministry of the church. Through research, publications, courses, and lectures, he continues to equip pastors, seminarians, and lay leaders for growth and renewal in preaching ministry. He combines rigorous homiletical theory with substantial practical experience and is the author of Contemporary Christian Homiletics (Campus Evangelical Fellowship Press, 2011).
Rev. Chi-Yang Wu
Rev. Chi-Yang Wu
Rev. Chi-Yang Wu graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked for 14 years at an engineering consulting firm, where he served as an engineering manager. After sensing God’s call, he earned an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a D.Min. from Asbury Theological Seminary. He served in pastoral ministry at a Chinese church in Cincinnati for more than 30 years and has also taught as adjunct faculty at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary, Christian Witness Theological Seminary, and Global Enrichment Theological Seminary. He and his wife have two sons and one daughter and four grandchildren.
Rev. Yung-Chien Lin
Rev. Yung-Chien Lin
Rev. Yung-Chien Lin was born in Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Computer Science, he sensed God’s call and pursued theological training at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s degree in theology. After graduating in 1982, he served at Houston Chinese Church. He earned a D.Min. in 1991 and in 1997 was sent to plant churches. He founded Formosan Evangelical Church, with a vision of nurturing spiritual life and reaching the community. Rev. Lin married Ning-Hua Lu in 1981, and they have one daughter and one son.
Rev. Ke-Chiang Wang
Rev. Ke-Chiang Wang
Rev. Ke-Chiang Wang has a remarkably diverse academic background: a bachelor’s degree in Law from Soochow University, which trained him in rigorous logic, though he did not become a lawyer; a master’s degree in Hospital Administration from Tulane University, which immersed him in healthcare, though he did not become a physician; and an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, which nearly proved too difficult to finish—yet ultimately led him into pastoral ministry. He has served in pastoral ministry for nearly 20 years in snowy Michigan and rainy Seattle. Passionate about preaching, his D.Min. dissertation at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary is titled “Unleashing the Dramatic Elements in Preaching.” He has a deep affection for the younger generation and brings creativity, humor, and energy to the pulpit. For preachers who want to gain knowledge, inspiration, and perhaps even some laughter along the way, this distinctive course is not to be missed.

Rev. Maria Kung
Rev. Maria Kung was born in Taiwan. From 2013 to 2022, God used Rev. Kung and her family to establish two Chinese churches and a gospel outreach point in Michigan. She is currently engaged in church planting ministry in the Irvine area of Orange County, Southern California. Rev. Kung is responding to God’s leading by actively building connections, mutual encouragement, and collaboration among Logos alumni and by partnering with fellow workers in church planting and missions.
Rev. Kevin Zhang
Rev. Kevin Zhang
Rev. Kevin Zhang founded a Bread of Life church in Vancouver in 2009 and served as its senior pastor, gaining extensive experience in church shepherding, governance, and church planting. Over the years, he has integrated pastoral counseling, inner healing, and spiritual formation into congregational ministry, with a commitment to the holistic well-being of believers. Together with his wife, he has also helped broken families rebuild joy. Rev. Zhang currently serves at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary as Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, Director of the D.Min. Program, Director of the Thriving Congregations Center, and Director of Field Education.
Rev. Ying Wang
Rev. Ying Wang
Rev. Ying Wang is from Taiwan. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Land Economics from National Chengchi University and her master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Architecture at Tamkang University. She received an M.Div. from LOGOS Evangelical Seminary in 2010 and a Th.M. in 2022. Her thesis was titled “A Small Character on a Great Question: Elihu in Job 32–37 and Holocaust Theology.” Since 2010, she has served as pastor of Evangelical Formosan Church of Love and Unity. Rev. Wang is sincere by nature, enjoys creativity, and values the application of biblical truth to contemporary contexts. She is married and has one son.
Rev. Tao-Te Chen
Rev. Tao-Te Chen
Rev. Tao-Te Chen is from Wenzhou, China, and is a third-generation Christian who grew up in the church and actively participated in ministry from an early age. He later pursued theological studies at Singapore Bible College. After earning his M.Div., he returned to Wenzhou to serve in writing and youth ministry and to promote expository preaching training in various regions. His D.Min. dissertation at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary focuses on the application dimension of preaching. He currently serves as a pastor at Mandarin Baptist Church of San Gabriel Valley in California and, together with his wife, is raising their three children.
Rev. Kuang-Hsin Lin
Rev. Kuang-Hsin Lin
Rev. Kuang-Hsin Lin graduated from the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering at Wuhan University and operated a water-treatment engineering company for many years. In 2006, he sensed God’s call and came to the United States to pursue an M.Div. at International Theological Seminary. From 2009 to 2020, he served at International Great Commission Church in Los Angeles as Administrative Director and Director of the Equipping Center. In September 2020, he planted International Dynamic Gospel Church and serves as its senior pastor. He is currently pursuing a D.Min. at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary, with a dissertation focused on discipleship among postmodern younger generations in North American Chinese churches.
Dr. Chin-Ling Tsai
Dr. Chin-Ling Tsai
Dr. Chin-Ling Tsai is from Taiwan and earned a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. She has served as a full-time Old Testament faculty member at China Evangelical Seminary in Taipei and North America as well as at Evangelical Formosan Seminary, and has also served in church education ministry. Dr. Tsai currently teaches as adjunct faculty at Dallas Theological Seminary and at several other seminaries. Her publications include commentaries on Esther and Zechariah in the Tien Dao Bible Commentary series.

Minister Kui Zhou / Teaching Assistant
Minister Kui Zhou came to faith during his university years and, in 2008, was called to full-time ministry with Campus Crusade for Christ. He has led teams in both campus and workplace ministries, advancing the gospel and equipping workers for God’s kingdom. In 2013, he planted a church and served in pastoral and missions ministry, while also participating in teaching at a theological institution. He received theological training at Dallas Theological Seminary and Singapore Bible College and is currently pursuing a D.Min. at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary. He and his wife have three sons and one daughter.

Director Profile
Rev. Maria Kung was born in Taiwan and majored in Journalism, working as an editor and reporter at a newspaper before entering ministry. She came to faith in 1986 and, with the affirmation and encouragement of her husband, clearly discerned her call to full-time ministry in 2007. That same year, she entered LOGOS Evangelical Seminary to pursue an M.Div. After graduating in 2012, Rev. Kung was called to serve at her home church, FECC, and participated in its first church-planting initiative that same year.
From 2013 to 2022, responding to God’s call and her church’s sending, she and her family moved to Michigan in the American Midwest to plant churches. By God’s grace and power, God used Rev. Kung and her family to establish two Chinese churches and a gospel outreach point in Michigan.
In 2023, Rev. Kung and her family were called once again to pursue church planting and missions. They are currently serving in the Irvine area of Orange County, Southern California. Rev. Kung is actively building connections, encouragement, and collaboration among Logos alumni and partnering with fellow workers in church planting and missions.
As Director of the Compelling Preaching Center at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary, Rev. Kung is committed to encouraging and equipping alumni serving in preaching ministry. Since 2024, she has promoted the Compelling Preaching training series prepared by the Seminary, with a vision that graduates continue receiving professional development in preaching—sharpening the sword of truth, renewing their ministry, and becoming more effective in shepherding churches and planting new congregations.
Rev. Kung is currently pursuing a D.Min. at LOGOS Evangelical Seminary. She and her husband have two adult daughters, and over the past decade their family has served together in church planting and second-generation ministry.

Provide systematic preaching courses, lectures, and individualized coachingProvide continuing professional education for pastors currently serving in ministry. The Center’s core function is to offer certificate programs. In addition to studying current approaches to preaching, participants receive individualized guidance within their own ministry contexts. Mentors regularly review sermon recordings and provide feedback, tracking each participant’s progress and areas for improvement. Outcomes are compiled as data for research and effectiveness assessment and then fed back into the Center’s ongoing work.

Peer Learning Community
Build communities of preachers who grow through shared journey and feedbackThe Center will establish peer learning groups for ministers, modeled on the Seminary’s “Dream-12 Communities” pastoral care groups. These groups, composed of certificate program participants, will be led by mentors. Mentors will not only guide members in preaching but will also foster spiritual growth and development in preaching ministry through mutual support and shared journey.

The yearlong curriculum is organized around four milestones. Participants progress through each stage in sequence, steadily building the outcomes of their preaching formation.

This course helped me learn how to build cultural and theological bridges and clarify the central theme. It also helped me recognize blind spots in my sermon writing.
