Welcome!

Dear New Students,

Welcome to LOGOS Evangelical Seminary! We are delighted to welcome you into the LOGOS community and look forward to sharing this season of life and learning with you. The founding vision of our Seminary is “To Do Great Things for the Lord and Rescue Millions of Souls.” We pray that you will receive thorough preparation and formation here, equipping you to become faithful servants who are pleasing to God and useful in His Kingdom.

At LOGOS, we emphasize a balanced development of four areas: spiritual formation, academic learning, personal life, and ministry. Academic knowledge can be gained through classes, the library, and study. Spiritual maturity, however, is formed not merely through books, but through daily life with family, relationships with others, and the experiences and challenges we encounter. All of these shape the way we serve.

At the heart of this journey is spiritual formation. It cannot be acquired through an intensive course alone, but is cultivated over many years through continual dependence on the Holy Spirit and faithful practice. As you pursue academic excellence, healthy relationships, and effective ministry, we encourage you never to lose sight of the priority of spiritual formation. May your years of learning and growing at LOGOS become a lasting blessing and foundation for your life and ministry.

Devotional Life

The best time to meet with God is at the beginning of each day, when our minds are clear and a new day lies before us. If circumstances require you to choose another time, try to set it as early in the day as possible. Choose a time when you can come before God without rushing or interruption, and find a place where you can regularly spend time alone with Him.
Begin with the right motivation—not out of obligation, but out of love. You desire to spend time alone with God because you love Him. With all your heart, soul, and mind, you love Him, and you eagerly come to that quiet place to be with Him. This is a time for worship and prayer, rather than intensive Bible study. Set aside another time for studying Scripture so that your devotional time does not need to be lengthy.
Catherine Marshall once wrote, “Long ago I discovered that unless I had at least a brief time of worship and prayer at the beginning of my day, something seemed to go wrong with the whole day. Usually, during this time I would ask, ‘Lord, is there something special You want to say to me today?’”

A Simple and Practical Devotional Pattern

a. Read a passage of Scripture or a psalm of praise.

b. Pray using the following outline. The acronym ACTS can help you remember:

A. Adoration — Praise God for who He is. Tell Him that you love, honor, and worship Him.
C. Confession — Examine your heart for anything that displeases God and ask Him for forgiveness and renewal.
T. Thanksgiving — Thank Him for what He has done, for the people around you, and for the circumstances you encounter.
S. Supplication — Bring your needs and requests before Him.

c. Listen — Pause during your prayer time to listen and allow God to speak to you. If time permits, quietly meditate on the Scripture you have read.

Housing

LOGOS Evangelical Seminary offers three residence options.
Liang Mu House is a 50-unit apartment complex, with each unit equipped with a bathroom and kitchen. Standard furnishings include a refrigerator, gas stove, dining table and chairs, twin or double beds, air conditioning, and heating.
Grace House consists of four standalone houses. Each house is equipped with a refrigerator, gas stove, and heating and accommodates 2–4 residents. Bedrooms are furnished with twin or double beds.
Blessed House is a 10-unit apartment complex, including four one-bedroom, one-bath units; two two-bedroom, one-bath units; three two-bedroom, two-bath units; and one three-bedroom, two-bath unit. Each unit is fully equipped with basic household amenities.
Housing is available only to officially admitted students. Applicants must submit the original application form and deposit to the Student Affairs Office. Once the application is approved, the Housing Manager will arrange the student’s accommodation.

Seminary Activities

1. Wednesday Chapel Service
Wednesday Chapel is designed to help students cultivate a life of worship, learn from the wisdom and experience of seasoned ministers, and grow toward spiritual maturity in Christ. All full-time students are required to attend the entire service, while part-time students are warmly encouraged to participate.

2. Wednesday Afternoon Student Activities
Student activities are held every Wednesday from 1:00–2:00 p.m. to foster fellowship and strengthen relationships among students. Activities include faculty and student care groups, testimony sharing, missions, recreation, discussions, special topics, and more.
If you are unable to attend Chapel or student activities, you must request an excused absence. Please observe the following guidelines:
Absence Guidelines
。Students may request up to two absences per semester. Prior approval from the Dean of Student Affairs is required for an absence to be excused.
。Please notify your small-group advisor and provide the reason for your absence.
。In the event of an emergency that prevents you from requesting leave in advance, notify the Dean of Student Affairs and your small-group advisor by phone or email on the same day.
。Absence requests may not be submitted through another person.
。Students with two or more unexcused absences will have the record placed in their student file for one year and may lose certain privileges during that period, including voting rights and eligibility to apply for financial aid. Student Affairs will issue a warning, and the matter will be referred to the Academic Affairs Committee for review.

3. Prayer Meetings
LOGOS Evangelical Seminary seeks not only to train students to “stand and preach” and “go and proclaim the Gospel,” but also to cultivate a community that knows how to “kneel and pray.” “Lifting Up Praying Hands” is the guiding purpose of our prayer ministry.
To encourage faculty, staff, and students to participate in a life of prayer, regular prayer meetings are held on campus and in the residence halls. As needed, the Seminary also organizes 40-day prayer chains and fasting prayer initiatives. Prayer meeting times are as follows:

4. Pre-Seminary Spiritual Retreat
To help the entire seminary community share a common vision and walk together in unity, LOGOS Evangelical Seminary holds a Pre-Seminary Spiritual Retreat during the week before the start of each academic year. All full-time students are required to attend the entire retreat. Those who are unable to attend for legitimate reasons must request an excused absence from Student Affairs in advance, listen to the recorded sessions afterward, and submit a reflection report.
Students who are absent without permission or fail to complete the required recordings and reflection report will have the absence recorded in their student file for one year and may lose certain privileges during that period, including voting rights and eligibility to apply for financial aid. Student Affairs will issue a warning, and the matter will be referred to the Academic Affairs Committee for review.
Part-time students must participate in one full Pre-Seminary Spiritual Retreat before graduation.

5. Care & Counseling Groups
Care groups are designed to support students in community life and help them integrate their faith into daily living.
Members: Doctoral, master’s, and part-time students, led by a faculty advisor.
Meeting Time: Wednesdays, 1:30–2:30 p.m. (Please refer to the schedule issued by Student Affairs.)
Meeting Location: Determined by each group according to its activities and needs.

6. Personal & Relationship Growth Retreats
To help students grow in their interpersonal and marital relationships and prepare them to serve as faithful witnesses, examples, and blessings to others in ministry, the Seminary offers an annual personal growth seminar and marriage enrichment retreat during the fall or spring semester. All new students are required to participate. Dates will be announced separately.

7. New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is held before the beginning of each semester. All new students are required to attend. Those who are unable to attend must request an excused absence from Student Affairs in advance.

8. Student Clubs
Student clubs provide opportunities for students to develop personal interests and cultivate a well-rounded community.
Membership: Students may participate according to their interests. To establish a new club, at least five students must submit an application to the Dean of Student Affairs during the first week of the fall semester. Upon approval, the club may be established. Each club is allocated an annual budget of $200.
Meeting Time & Location: Determined by each club.

9. Special Activities
The Student Association and Seminary organize special activities throughout the year in connection with particular holidays and ministry opportunities. These activities promote meaningful relationships among students, the Seminary, and the broader community.
Special activities include:

Welcome & Farewell Gatherings, including Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations
Graduation Celebration & Commencement
Pre-Seminary Spiritual Retreat
All full-time students are expected to actively participate in these activities. Those who are unable to attend must request an excused absence from the Dean of Student Affairs.

Student Conduct

Students who are called to pastoral ministry or service in Christian organizations are expected, according to biblical standards, to conduct themselves as exemplary followers of Christ. LOGOS Evangelical Seminary therefore holds students to standards of character and Christian witness that exceed the expectations of society at large. Students are expected to obey the law, respect the authority of the Constitution, and comply with Seminary policies and regulations.
“Improper conduct” refers to behavior that is contrary to the best interests of students, faculty and staff, the Seminary, or the educational process. Such conduct includes, but is not limited to, the following. Violations may result in disciplinary action:
Academic misconduct, including cheating, falsification of information, plagiarism, and other forms of academic dishonesty.
Physical or verbal harm, threats, intimidation, coercion, or harassment that endanger the health or safety of others.
Use or possession of illegal drugs, excessive use of alcohol, smoking, and related conduct.
Sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, and homosexual conduct.
Theft or attempted theft, or intentional damage to Seminary or personal property.
Unauthorized possession, duplication, or use of Seminary keys, or unauthorized entry into or use of Seminary facilities.
Illegal or unauthorized possession on campus of firearms, explosives, other weapons, or hazardous chemicals.
Theft or improper use of Seminary computer equipment, including:
8.1 Unauthorized access to, reading of, or alteration of files belonging to staff, faculty, or other individuals;
8.2 Unauthorized transfer or deletion of data from Seminary computer systems;
8.3 Unauthorized use of another person’s identification information or password;
8.4 Use of computer equipment to interfere with other students, staff, or faculty;
8.5 Use of computer equipment to view, transmit, or receive obscene, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate material;
8.6 Use of computer equipment to interfere with the normal operation of Seminary computer systems.
Fighting or the use of defamatory, abusive, or vulgar language.
Changes in marital status during enrollment, including marriage, divorce, or remarriage, must be reported in writing to Student Affairs at least three months in advance. The Seminary will provide appropriate pastoral care and guidance, which may include premarital assessment and referral to professional counseling. Deliberate concealment of such information, if discovered, will be referred to the Student Conduct Committee for review and appropriate action.
Violation of Seminary academic policies and regulations.
Student Conduct Procedures
In keeping with the spirit of Galatians 6:1–2, the Student Conduct Committee seeks to address student concerns with genuine care in Christ, ensuring that its decisions promote the student’s learning, growth, and professional development. The long-term well-being of the student, the Seminary, and the student’s church or ministry context shall be the primary considerations in the committee’s deliberations.
To cultivate a community that takes responsibility for one another and seeks restoration, all faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to promptly report to Student Affairs any conduct that is inappropriate, unethical, harmful to the Seminary, or detrimental to a student’s ministry organization.
Upon receiving a report, the Dean of Student Affairs will promptly conduct any necessary investigation, including communicating with those involved and determining whether the matter can be resolved through mutual discussion or requires further action. If the matter cannot be resolved, the Dean of Student Affairs will compile the information provided by those involved and submit a written report to the Seminary Council.
When necessary, the Student Conduct Committee may interview the individuals involved as part of a further investigation. The committee will review the Dean’s written report, carefully consider the circumstances, and determine whether the student has violated Seminary regulations. If the violation is substantiated, the committee will submit a report to the Seminary Council.
The Dean of Student Affairs, serving as chair of the committee, will notify the student both verbally and in writing of the Seminary’s decision and any disciplinary action. The student may accept the committee’s decision or appeal to the Seminary Council. An appeal must be submitted in writing within two weeks of receiving the written decision.
Upon receiving an appeal, the Seminary Council will review the matter. The student may also submit a written statement for the Council’s consideration. The Seminary Council will issue its final decision within 30 days. All faculty, staff, and students are expected to respect and abide by the Council’s decision and work toward harmony within the Seminary community.
Student Affairs shall report all disciplinary actions taken against students to the Faculty Council. Records of hearings, decisions, and appeals shall be maintained by Student Affairs.

Disciplinary Actions
Warning: A student who commits a first-time or inadvertent violation may receive a written warning. The record will remain on file for one year from the effective date.
Probation I: A student who violates Seminary regulations through inappropriate conduct or attitude may be placed on probation for one semester. If there is no significant improvement, the student may be required to take a leave of absence or may be dismissed from the Seminary.
Probation II: A student who violates academic regulations may be placed on probation for one semester, and credit for the relevant course may be withheld.
Suspension: The Student Conduct Committee will determine the duration of a student’s suspension. Upon completion of the suspension period, the student may apply for readmission.
Dismissal: In cases involving serious violations of Seminary regulations, the Student Conduct Committee may dismiss the student from the Seminary.
Transcript Record: The committee will determine whether any disciplinary action will be recorded on the student’s transcript and will determine the duration of such a record.

Student Grievances

Students who have a grievance should follow the principle of Matthew 18:15–22 by first speaking privately with the person involved, whether a student, faculty member, or staff member, with the goal of resolving the matter directly and privately at the earliest stage. If the student believes the matter cannot be resolved independently, the following procedures apply:
If a student is unable to resolve the matter directly, the Dean of Student Affairs or a care group advisor may assist, with strict confidentiality maintained throughout the process. The process will conclude once both parties reach an agreement. When appropriate, both parties may sign a written agreement, each retaining a copy, with a third copy submitted to Student Affairs for the record.
If the grievance remains unresolved, the student may submit a written report to the Dean of Student Affairs within two weeks, detailing the circumstances of the incident and the steps already taken to resolve it. The Dean will meet separately with the parties involved to carefully establish the facts and will then meet with both parties together in an effort to resolve the matter. If the grievance is resolved, the Dean will prepare a written report within two weeks, which must be signed by the parties involved. The original will be retained by Student Affairs, and each party will receive a copy.
If the grievance involves a violation of Seminary regulations, or if a violation is substantiated and the individual shows no willingness to acknowledge wrongdoing or seek restoration, the Dean of Student Affairs will refer the matter to the Student Conduct Committee for a hearing. If the matter involves faculty or staff, the relevant department head and Director of Human Resources will be invited to attend the hearing.
If the grievance remains unresolved after the above procedures have been followed, the student may submit a written appeal to the Seminary Council within two weeks. The Chair will convene a hearing to address the grievance. The Council may invite other appropriate representatives, such as the President of the Student Association, to attend. The Council will reach a decision within 30 days and provide all parties with a written decision signed and dated by the parties involved. Student Affairs will retain the decision together with the hearing records. All decisions shall be final and reported to the Seminary Council or Faculty Council.
If a committee member is involved in the grievance, the Dean of Student Affairs may appoint another faculty or staff member to serve in their place. If the Dean of Student Affairs is involved, the President of the Seminary will appoint another person to handle the matter in the Dean’s place.
Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures
In accordance with California requirements, LOGOS Evangelical Seminary is committed to providing students, faculty, and staff with a safe, healthy, and respectful learning and working environment. The Seminary is committed to preventing and addressing sexual harassment and related misconduct. Anyone who violates this policy will be held accountable and may be subject to disciplinary action. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and other Seminary personnel. It also applies to individuals from outside the Seminary community, including visitors and contracted personnel.
1. Definition
Sexual harassment includes direct or indirect sexual misconduct, including unwelcome sexual conduct, sexual advances or requests, and inappropriate verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
2. Offices Responsible for Sexual Harassment Grievances
a. The Dean of Student Affairs may receive grievances concerning sexual harassment involving students, faculty, or staff.
b. The President of the Seminary may receive grievances concerning sexual harassment involving department heads or other administrative leaders.
3. Grievance Procedures
Anyone who experiences or has concerns regarding sexual harassment may bring the matter to the appropriate grievance officer. Following consultation, one of the following approaches may be taken:
a. Informal Grievance
The matter should first be addressed through an informal process whenever possible. If the matter cannot be resolved informally, the individual may submit a formal grievance. Consultation with the appropriate grievance officer does not itself constitute a formal grievance.
b. Formal Grievance
The grievance must be submitted in writing, signed by the complainant, and formally presented to the appropriate grievance officer, with specific details of the complaint.
During the investigation, the person accused will be informed of their identity and the substance of the allegations. The office responsible for handling the grievance will promptly notify the accused of the specific allegations. All information related to the investigation shall be kept confidential.
If the investigation determines that disciplinary action is warranted, the Seminary’s disciplinary procedures will apply. The accused has the right to request counseling. An allegation will be entered into the individual’s official personnel or student record only when the investigation substantiates the claim.
4. Retaliation
No person may retaliate against, threaten, or otherwise intimidate anyone who participates in the implementation or investigation of this policy. Any actual or suspected retaliation or threat of retaliation may result in separate disciplinary action. Disciplinary action for retaliation or threats of retaliation will not be affected by the outcome of the underlying sexual harassment investigation.
5. False Reports
If an investigation determines that a grievance was knowingly and falsely submitted, the individual who made the false report may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Seminary policy.

Chapter 1 — General Provisions

Article 1

The organization shall be known as the LOGOS Evangelical Seminary Student Association (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”).

Article 2

The purpose of the Association is to encourage students to develop self-discipline and student self-governance, foster fellowship and mutual care, serve as a bridge between the Seminary and its students, and carry out responsibilities and activities assigned by the Seminary.

Article 3

The Association shall be based at the main campus of LOGOS Evangelical Seminary.

Chapter 2 — Membership

Article 4

All full-time students enrolled in the D.Min., M.Div., M.A.C.S., or Th.M. programs are automatic members of the Association. Part-time students may apply through Student Services to become associate members but shall not have voting rights.

Article 5

Members shall have the following rights and responsibilities:

The right and responsibility to attend meetings and participate in the ministries and activities of the Association.
The right to vote, run for office, and recall elected officers.
Members shall pay membership dues on time. The amount of the dues shall be proposed by the Executive Committee and approved by the General Assembly.
Members who have graduated with a degree from the Seminary and subsequently re-enroll in another degree program, such as the Th.M. or D.Min., must pay membership dues again. Students who transition directly from one degree program to another without formally graduating, such as from the M.A.C.S. to the M.Div., are not required to pay the dues again.

Chapter 3 — Organization and Meetings

Section 1 — General Assembly

Article 6

The General Assembly consists of the members defined in Article 4 and serves as the highest decision-making body of the Association.

Article 7

The General Assembly shall be chaired by the President of the Executive Committee and shall meet at least once each academic term.

Article 8

A special General Assembly may be called when approved by the Executive Committee or requested in writing by at least one-third of the members.

Article 9

A quorum shall consist of at least one-half of the Association’s membership.

Article 10

A resolution shall take effect upon approval by more than one-half of the members present.

Article 11

When necessary, the President of the Executive Committee may invite faculty, staff, or representatives to attend the General Assembly.

Section 2 — Executive Committee

Article 12

The Executive Committee shall consist of nine positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Student Care, Activities, Finance, General Affairs, Worship, and Missions. These positions shall be filled by eight officers, with the Vice President also serving in one of the following roles: Secretary, Student Care, Activities, Finance, General Affairs, Worship, or Missions. One independent auditor shall be elected directly by the General Assembly.

Article 13

Students who have less than one semester remaining before completing all required credits are not eligible to run for office but retain voting rights.

Note: Elections for the Seminary Residence Hall Student Council will be held after the Student Association Executive Committee election.

Article 14

Election Procedures

Elections shall be held at the General Assembly following the final Wednesday Chapel Service of the winter term.
Candidates must be official members of the Association.
Officers shall be elected by secret ballot.
The election process shall proceed as follows:
- 4.1 Eight officers shall first be elected from among the candidates.
- 4.2 The President and Vice President shall then be elected from among the eight officers.
- 4.3 The remaining positions shall be assigned by the Executive Committee and announced to the membership.
If no candidate receives a majority in the first round, a second vote shall be held between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes.
In the event of a tie, the General Assembly shall conduct another election.
The incumbent President may not serve as President for a consecutive term.

Article 15

Recall of Officers

An officer may be recalled upon a written petition signed by at least one-third of the members and approval by at least two-thirds of the members present at a special General Assembly.

Article 16

Responsibilities of the Executive Committee

Implement decisions approved by the General Assembly.
Manage the affairs of the Association during periods when the General Assembly is not in session.
Propose amendments to this Constitution in accordance with Article 20.

Article 17

Responsibilities of Officers

(1) President

A. Represents the Association externally.
B. Presides over the General Assembly and Executive Committee meetings.
C. Attends meetings required by the Seminary.
D. Provides leadership and coordinates the Association’s ministries and activities.

(2) Vice President

A. Assists the President in managing the affairs of the Association.
B. Serves as Acting President when the President is unable to perform the duties of office.
C. Assists and supports other officers in carrying out their responsibilities.

(3) Secretary

A. Collects and organizes minutes, records, and relevant documents from meetings and gatherings.
B. Announces Association activities and events.
C. Provides articles and announcements for Seminary publications.

(4) Finance

A. Oversees the Association’s financial and accounting matters.
Note: Association membership funds are held by Student Affairs.

B. Prepares quarterly financial reports and facilitates financial review and public disclosure of accounts.
C. Prepares the annual budget and financial statements.

(5) Activities

A. Plans fellowship events and regular Association activities.
B. Assists with activities and events assigned by the Seminary.

(6) Student Care

A. Addresses students’ needs related to campus and community life.
B. Establishes and oversees student care groups.
C. Assists the Seminary with welcoming and receiving new students.

(7) General Affairs

A. Purchases supplies needed for Association activities and daily operations.
B. Oversees event setup and resource coordination.
C. Handles other administrative and logistical matters.

(8) Worship

A. Coordinates worship and praise for regular Association activities.
B. Coordinates worship and praise for special Association events.

(9) Missions

A. Coordinates with the Missions faculty member regarding the work and activities of the Missions Committee.
B. Plans, coordinates, and implements the Association’s annual missions ministry.

Article 18

Executive Committee Meetings

The Executive Committee shall meet at least once each month.
Faculty, staff, or other representatives may be invited to attend when necessary.
At least two-thirds of the officers must be present to constitute a quorum.
A motion shall be approved upon receiving the support of at least two-thirds of the officers present.

Chapter 4 — Supplementary Provisions

Article 19

This Constitution shall take effect upon approval by the General Assembly and filing with the Seminary.

Article 20

Amendments to this Constitution may be proposed by the Executive Committee or by a written petition signed by at least one-third of the members. Proposed amendments shall be presented to the General Assembly and shall take effect upon approval by at least two-thirds of the members present.

Article 21

Any questions regarding the interpretation of this Constitution shall be determined by the Executive Committee.

The Seminary provides basic oral and topical medications in the Student Activity Center for students to use in case of an emergency.
