During your studies in the United States, F-1 international students must maintain lawful student status and comply with requirements regarding enrollment, address updates, travel and reentry, and employment authorization. The following information will help you understand important requirements related to maintaining F-1 status, travel and reentry, on-campus employment, CPT, OPT, and obtaining a Social Security Number (SSN).

The following information is an on-campus guide for international students and requires you to log in with your LOGOS account to access.

1. Maintaining F-1 Status

Learn about key F-1 requirements, including full-time enrollment, address updates, course requirements, and maintaining lawful status.

2. Travel & Reentry

Before traveling outside the United States, submit the required International Student Services request and confirm your I-20 travel signature, visa validity, and required reentry documents.

3. Practicum & Employment

F-1 students must obtain proper authorization before working in the United States. Learn about on-campus employment, CPT, OPT, and Social Security Numbers (SSN).

Important Reminder

F-1 students must maintain lawful student status while in the United States, including meeting full-time enrollment requirements, keeping contact information updated, following travel and reentry procedures, obtaining proper employment authorization, and completing student health insurance and other Seminary requirements. If your status, address, employment, enrollment, or family circumstances change, please submit the required International Student Services request or contact the appropriate office.

Services Include

  • Address Update: Report your new address within 10 days of moving.
  • Health Insurance: Submit proof of insurance before the start of each academic year.
  • CPT Application: Apply for authorization for international student practical training.
  • Program Change: Request a new I-20 when changing programs.
  • Travel Abroad: Submit a request and obtain a DSO travel signature before short-term international travel.
  • F-2 Dependent Update: Update information for F-2 dependents on your I-20.
